A fluid process for concrete problems
We help organizations understand not just what is happening, but why. To do that, we look beyond individual symptoms and examine how different parts of the organization affect one another.
Following the problem
We begin by getting close to how the organization actually operates. That may mean looking at how decisions are made, how information moves, which tools people rely on, where ownership sits, and what happens between one department and another.
Imagine a building with a switch on the fourth floor that controls the lights on the ninth. The people on the fourth floor see a switch that appears to do nothing. The people on the ninth see their lights turn on and off without explanation. To each group, these appear to be unrelated problems. In reality, they are two symptoms of a single problem.
To get to the root of the problem, we examine the people, decisions, tools, and processes behind it. Each finding helps determine where to look next.
Shaping the response
We do not begin with a predefined solution. The direction of the engagement develops through discovery and reflects what the organization actually needs.
As the problem becomes clearer, so does the response. We determine what needs to change, what should happen first, and how the teams, processes, and resources involved need to work together.
The methods change from project to project because every organization brings different problems, constraints, and resources. The result is a practical plan shaped around the organization, its goals, and what it can realistically support.
Working with context
Useful recommendations require more than a surface understanding of the problem. They depend on context, access, and a clear view of how the organization actually operates.
We assess the tools people use, understand how decisions have developed, and hear different perspectives from across the organization. This requires time, access, and openness from the organizations we work with.
In return, the work is designed around each organization’s actual circumstances and needs. We meet our partners where they are today, not where a similar organization happens to be.
Continuing beyond us
Our goal is to leave organizations better equipped to continue the work without us. We build clearer priorities, stronger connections, and practical structures that people understand and can continue using.
When our work is complete, the organization should not only understand what changed, but why it changed and how to keep evolving.
